With American football growing in Ireland, we saw an opportunity to have some fun with Budweiser’s sponsorship of the Aer Lingus College Football Classic.

We kicked off with the LADbible Ireland Combine, bringing together GAA, rugby and football players to attempt classic American football drills.

The idea expanded to grassroots teams taking on the same challenges, while vox pops tested how much the Irish public actually knew about the sport. Quizzes and VIP ticket giveaways helped build excitement ahead of match day, culminating in live Instagram coverage as American football took over Dublin.

the crossover

The following year, we pushed further into the crossover between GAA and American football.

Through our LADbible Tries series, we put our presenter through an American football combine with an Irish NFL scout to see if his Junior B dominance would translate. On the streets outside Croke Park, we asked fans how much crossover exists between the two sports, exploring the similarities in a way that felt familiar and entertaining.

Across both years, the work leaned into cultural overlap to make American football feel accessible, local and fun.
